High School Intensive Program

The Intensive offers high school students who are passionate about theater an opportunity to develop their skills and challenge themselves creatively. This free program starts each summer when students, selected by audition, participate in a three-week sessions at LCT.

The summer program includes:
- Classes in acting, movement, playwriting and musical theater conducted by professional artists;
- Opportunities to see performances and meet with working theater professionals.

Throughout the school year, Intensive students return to LCT for sessions that include:
- Attendance at one Saturday matinee of each LCT production, preceded by a morning pre-show workshop;
- Post-show talkbacks and in-depth discussions, guided by LCT teaching artists, to explore students' reactions to the works they have seen.

"On the subway, I notice one of my Intensive students sitting a few seats away from me. She, too, is intently watching. Later in class when I ask them to do a study of someone they saw on the train, she does a movement study of me."
